Cluster Mapping produces an overall picture of the ‘state of the industry’, clarifying the boundaries and magnitude of an industry cluster (or seed) and identifying its position on a ‘cluster maturity continuum’. It may be conducted either as a standalone effort or as an early component of a broader strategic or business planning project.
The Cluster Mapping method includes four main stages:
- Structured Stakeholder Interviews and/or focus groups
- Results Analysis and Development of Cluster Map
- Maturity Assessment & ‘Tipping Points’ Identification
- Development of the Statement of Ambition
